November will be a busy month at the Sister Bay-Liberty Grove Library.
- Our Head Librarian, Christina, asked me to pass the word along that all kids are cordially invited to “Children’s Storytime”, which will be conducted from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. on November 4th. Snacks will be provided, and the theme of that particular storytime will be “being tidy with friendly fall leaves”. Kids will also have an opportunity to make some beautiful pressed leaf window sun catchers.
- From 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 11th Amos the Therapy Dog will be returning to Sister Bay to celebrate his 11th birthday!!! Kids of all ages are invited to read their favorite stories aloud to Amos, who is an incredibly patient, non-judgmental, and sweet four-legged listener.
- The Readers Rampant Book Discussion Group meets at the Library on the second Tuesday of every month at 2:30 P.M., and the topic of discussion on Tuesday, November 14th will be The Little French Bistro by Nina George. New book club members are always welcome, and all of the featured books are available at the Library.
- The theme of the next display at the Library will be “Good Nutrition Awareness”. During November folks of all ages will be able to check out books which highlight healthy food and related craft activities. Christina is always looking for items to exhibit in the display case at the Library, so if you have a unique collection and might be interested in speaking about that collection, please contact Christina at 920-854-2721.
The current show at the Meadows Art Gallery, which will run through November 13, is entitled “Connections: The People and Vision of Central America”, and features the photography of Dennis Connolly. The title of the show comes from Dennis’ effort to have a relationship with the subjects of his photographs and his desire for viewers to connect with those individuals.
Christy Sully, who is a member of the Peninsula Symphonic Band, asked me to invite everyone to the Veteran’s Day Concert, which will be conducted at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 5, 2017. A free will offering will benefit the Door County Veteran’s Service Council.
In the upcoming weeks the guys from the Parks Department will be working on erecting some familiar as well as fantastic new Christmas decorations. If all goes as planned the Village’s parklands and properties will be transformed into a winter wonderland that you and yours won’t want to miss.
Well, I guess that’s all for this week. If you know of any special events which will be occurring in the Village, or would like to have me publicize birthdays or anniversaries of folks who live or work here, please provide that information to my friends in the Village Office at least one week in advance of the special day(s).
GO PACK GO!!!
