DO GOOD DOOR COUNTY HELPS SENIORS STAY IN THEIR HOMES LONGER

Do Good Door County, a nonprofit organization who helps seniors stay in their home longer and have a better quality of life, has four initiatives going on in Sister Bay.  We encourage you to follow these programs and share the information below with those senior citizens that might be interested or benefit from the programming.

  1. Vitality in Aging – A program seniors do in their own home.  This is a free program to promote healthy living and build strong community connections.  Participants engage in physical, social and nutritional activities.  They log activities they’ve done and can earn rewards.  The first enrollment period is September 3-13, with the first program running September 16-January 31.  Informational sessions are held at the Fish Creek YMCA or via a personal appointment.  For more information call the Vitality in Aging Coordinator at (920) 333-1109 or email vitalityin[email protected].
  2. Livability Assessment – Staff and volunteers visit Waterfront Park and the Sports Complex to determine if the parks are equipped for all ages and make recommendations on how to improve them for use by young and old.
  3. Intercept Survey – Staff and volunteers interview users of Waterfront Park and the Sports Complex to determine likes and dislikes, how often they use the parks, their age, etc.
  4. SAIL Senior Advocates for Independent Living, or SAIL, is a group of volunteers operating through Do Good Door County that provides assistance to seniors.  Volunteers help with a variety of daily needs, allowing seniors to engage with others, while also getting help with daily needs and chores.  To be a volunteer, or sign up for services, phone (920) 333-1083 or visit the website at www.ageinplacedoorcounty.org.  To see the complete version of SAIL's informational brochure please click on the following hyperlink:  Link to SAIL Brochure
